STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT
MISSION STATEMENT
|
Our mission is to provide our students with effective solutions to help them learn the English language.
This is accomplished by taking into consideration the student's individual needs. We exercise personal respect, give on-going and efficient guidance in a reliable, friendly and confidential atmosphere.
|
We have developed the following plans to help students reinforce language learning:
- Special Program is intended to reinforce specific module contents. Students who follow this plan do a laboratory activity and a conversation session the same day. This gives students the opportunity to practice the content in class immediately after they review it in the lab.
- Tutorial is a one-to-one session with a teacher, which lasts 45 minutes. Students are given material in to study in advance. This allows the individual student to come to the tutorial prepared to ask questions about specific points they are struggling with.
- Conversation Tour. It gives students extra practice to improve their fluency. It is designed according to the student's needs and it focuses on the ability to communicate orally, the organization and or selection of the elements in a sentence, the use of the appropriate verbal tense according to the situation, and pronunciation.
In addition to these, the Student Services Department offers the following services:
- Counseling on how to study for students who are interested in improving their learning and do not have a study method.
- Information Center available for students who are interested in studying English abroad.
- Course Presentation is a compulsory initial activity in Spanish for all our students to attend, and is not discounted from their sessions.
- BIM (Beta Introductory Module) is a 90-minute class intended for students whose knowledge of English is very basic. The first 45-minute session is a class in English, where students learn how to greet each other formally and informally and locate the main places in Tronwell. During the second 45-minute session, in Spanish, students are introduced to second language learning strategies, focusing mainly on Tronwell's Instructional System.
- Graduation is the last activity students have at Tronwell. We organize around four graduation ceremonies a year and to be invited students have to take the final exam after they have finished their course.

EXHIBITIONS - COUNTRIES
In addition to our regular class programs, Tronwell often organizes cultural-academic activities. The aim is to have students learn the language in an interesting and fun way. For 1999, we are staging exhibitions about the different English speaking countries.
We believe that our students will profit from watching, reading and looking at information regarding customs and traditions, economy and industry, political organization, geography, commerce, education, and music from these countries.
